Baker

Baker is an amazing Denver neighborhood that is home to the Baker Historic District.

The City of Denver decided to grant this part of Baker Historic Preservation back in 2000 in an effort to keep the neighborhood authentic. With historical roots dating back to 1859, Baker homeowners love their neighborhood because it’s eclectic and unique. Baker is a perfect marriage of old and new, offering young families a glimpse into yesteryear.

About the Baker Neighborhood of Denver

The neighborhood features a mix of residential, industrial, and commercial properties, which mean that shopping and jobs are never far away. Baker is bordered by Broadway, West Mississippi, West 6th Avenue, and the South Platte River. Along Broadway, there is mostly a mix of retail and office space, but many Baker homeowners shop at the large retail shopping center at Alameda Avenue and Broadway.

Additionally, Baker homeowners love the Main Street development on Broadway that offers a diverse selection of stores and boutiques, casual and fine dining restaurants, numerous entertainment options, as well as access to mass transit. Several bus lines run through this part of the city, and two Light Rail stops are easily accessible at Alameda and I-25, and I-25 and Broadway.

Perhaps one of the most loved entertainment options in Baker, though, is The Mayan Theater, which features independent movies. The theater has been a community staple since the 1930s. Just a mile away, Su Teatro puts on theatrical productions of all types and is becoming popular with Baker homeowners. The Golden Triangle, with its wealth of restaurants, theaters, and the Denver Art Museum, is just blocks away. For residents who love to get outdoors, Phil Milstein Park, along the Platte River, is the largest in the Baker community.

Baker is Denver’s oldest neighborhood, but that doesn’t mean it’s deficient in modern conveniences. The mixture of historic charm and contemporary amenities means that Baker is the perfect place to call home!
