About the Congress Park Neighborhood of Denver

Congress Park is located in the middle of York Street, Colfax Avenue, Colorado Boulevard, and Sixth Avenue, offering residents easy access to all parts of the city.

For busy families who want to be near to shopping, the Cherry Creek shopping center is quite close. Historically, homes here are mainly bungalows and Denver Squares, but newer condos and apartments now share the space with historic mansions, offering home buyers a variety of options for their unique needs. For those who work in downtown Denver, the commute is less than 15 minutes by car and easily accessible by bike or bus.

Additionally, the Denver Botanic Gardens is located in the Congress Park neighborhood, in Cheesman Park. Here, active outdoor residents can take in the natural beauty of the area including a variety of plants and flowers. During the summer, Congress Park homeowners turn out in force for concerts that are held in the Botanic Gardens during the evening. Cheesman Park features a beautiful pavilion, plenty of open space, and a gravel walking/running path around its perimeter.

Near Cheesman Park, Victorian homes tend to dominate, many having stood in the area for over one hundred years. The Humboldt Island portion of Congress Park is a beloved historic area that has many old Victorian homes. Denver’s largest historic district, the 7th Avenue Historic District, is also nearby, as is Capitol Hill.

For music lovers, the Bluebird Theater is one of the premier venues to watch a concert in the city. Originally built back in 1913, the intimate theater is laid out in tiers with a balcony that overlooks the entire stage. Other neighborhood gems include the Tattered Cover Book Store (housed in the historic Lowenstein Theater), East High School, the P S Lounge, Goosetown Tavern, and the city’s only Trader Joe’s with a liquor store, thanks to Denver’s unique liquor laws.

With a variety of local amenities and conveniences, it’s no wonder so many people choose to call Congress Park home!
